  • A rhinoceros' horn is made of compacted hair.

  • The little bags of netting for gas lanterns (called 'mantles') are radioactive--so much so that they will set of an alarm at a nuclear reactor.

  • Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing.

Trivia & Amazing Facts 25-05-09

The word "bookkeeper" is the only word in the English language with three, back-to-back double letter combinations.

Tigers have striped skin, not just striped fur.

The planets in the solar system rotate anticlockwise, except Venus, Uranus and Pluto which rotate clockwise. No one knows why.

Every year we dispose of 24 million tons of leaves and grass clippings, which could be composted to conserve landfill space.
